Our Moderator
REV. MICHAEL PLACE is a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago and was ordained in 1970. He has a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Catholic University of America and several other degrees. He has served as chair of the advisory committee since 2017 where he has been actively involved in helping to shape the work of the Initiative.

DR. BRIAN P. FLANAGAN is Associate Professor of Theology at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, where he teaches undergraduate courses in introductory theology, church, and liturgy. He earned his PhD in Systematic Theology at Boston College and pursues research in ecclesiology, ecumenism, and liturgical theology. He is the author of Stumbling in Holiness: Sin and Sanctity in the Church (Liturgical Press, 2018), the co-editor of Liturgy + Power, the Annual Volume of the College Theology Society (Orbis Press, 2017), and is a contributing writer at www.dailytheology.org.
DR. LISA CAHILL (Ph.D., University of Chicago) is the J. Donald Monan, S.J., Professor of Theology, Boston College. Dr. Cahill is a past president of the Catholic Theological Society of America and the Society of Christian Ethics. Recent books include ‘Blessed Are the Peacemakers’: Pacifism, Just War Theory and Peacebuilding(Fortress, 2019); and A Theology and Praxis of Gender Equality (Dharmaram Publications, Bangalore, 2018). Other works include Global Justice, Christology and Christian Ethics (Cambridge, 2013),Theological Bioethics: Justice, Participation, and Change (Georgetown, 2005), and Sex, Gender, and Christian Ethics (Cambridge, 1996).
MR. PETER DENIO is a Program Manager at Leadership Roundtable and serves as a Pastoral Associate at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Ridgewood, NJ. Previously Peter was the Director of Pastoral Services at the National Pastoral Life Center. He has served the Catholic Church for over 20 years as a Lay Ecclesial Minister. Peter received masters degrees in Public Administration from Seton Hall University and in Pastoral Ministry from Boston College.
