Biography
Sister Patricia Wittberg, S.C. is a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati, Ohio. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Chicago, and is currently Professor of Sociology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. She is the author of four books and numerous articles on Catholic religious orders, including From Piety to Professionalism – And Back (Lexington Books, 2006), “The Challenge of Reconfiguration: New Opportunities for Religious Congregations” (Human Development 2009), and “Opening a New Window: Fifteen Years after the FORUS Study (Review for Religious 2009). She also has worked with Center for Applied Research on the Apostolate at Georgetown University on two directories of Emerging Religious Communities in the United States. Her manuscript, “We Are Called One Body: Incarnating the Trinitarian God in Church Communities”, has recently been accepted for publication with Paulist Press. The Murnion Lecture is based on a chapter of this most recent book.
